Ball Type and Court Size

Red foam and Red felt: ages 8 and under
--Ideal for children learning and playing the game; these balls are slower and lighter.  This age group will play on courts 36 feet long by 18 feet wide.  It is easy for little legs to cover and with a 2'9" net, it's easier to get the ball over.

Orange: ages 9-10
--This low compression ball is the same size as a yellow ball but is lighter; travels slower through the air and bounces lower.  This age group will play on courts 60 feet long and 21 feet wide.

Green ball: ages 11-12
--As children become accomplished with their strokes and tactics, they can move to the full-sized court and use the green ball which is slightly lighter and slower than a yellow ball giving children more time to get to and return shots.

Yellow ball: ages 13 and up
--Adult ball will be used with full size court.

Scoring

An appropriately sized racquet, one designed for kid-sized hands and strength, is essential.  Most children will do well with a 23" racket but if 5 and under they would do better with a 19" racket.

Rules

Just as the kids will learn the game of tennis as they play they will also learn the rules of the game.  The rules are to be enforced by the coaches or the director/staff of the league if present.  The rules can be found here.  The rules of tennis will be reviewed with the coaches and parents before the league begins.

Make-up Matches

Due to the time of year this league will be played there will need to be make up matches not just due to weather.  The schedule will be passed out before the season begins and any conflicts should be noted and emailed to the League.  That match will either be rescheduled or scheduled during the make-up week before the end of season tournament.  The League prefers matches be rescheduled and not forfeited.
